  2. About this job • Current the normal entry-level position in the Department of Sanitation (some people call DSNY) is Sanitation worker. • Sanitation Workers are appointed from a civil-service list.

  3. About this job • In order to be placed on the civil-service list, a candidate must pass a written exam and a physical test administered by The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS).

  4. That is so important job for human’s life. If we eat vegetable, it needs clear right? • So, we need sanitation workers and that is important job or dangerous job.

  5. Why sanitation worker job is dangerous? • Because they have to clean many rubbish. • And they touch too much rubbish, a lot of germs move to sanitation workers.

  6. BUT • what if they touch germs everyday or 12 hours each day? Is that job safety? • I think sanitation worker job is dangerous job and helpful.

  7. Sanitation worker’s Salary • The current starting salary of a Sanitation Worker is $31,200 per year. The current labor agreement provides for periodic increases to a maximum of $67,141 after 5 1/2 years. In addition to the basic annual wages, Sanitation Workers may also earn differential payments based on their specific assignment and overtime.
