  2. JLWJC Background • Originally formed as The Service League in 1934 • Admitted into the Association of Junior Leagues International, Inc. in 1949 • Currently have more than 100 active members

JLWJC Mission The Junior League of Wyandotte and Johnson Counties in Kansas is an organization of women dedicated to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.  Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

  4. JLWJC’s Fund Raising • Three events held annually • American Girl Fashion Show—October 5, 2008 • Community Ball—December 6, 2008 • Tour De Forks—May 3, 2009 • Money raised is used to support JLWJC activities and to providing to support community organizations

  5. JLWJC in the Community • JLWJC provides financial and volunteer assistance to organizations in our community. • Done-In-A-Day Activities • Community Assistance Fund • Community Grant

  6. Done-in-a-Day (DIAD) • DIAD activities provide short-term volunteer assistance • No financial commitment made by JLWJC • Type of volunteer assistance various based on organization needs • Organizations must be 501(c)3

  7. Community Assistance Fund • Critical or one-time financial assistance • Cannot exceed $1,000 • Organizations must be a 501(c)3 • No volunteer assistance connected with award • Three deadline dates • October 15, January 15 and March 15
