  2. Hookes Law F = -kx F = restoring force x = displacement from equilibrium position

  3. One Oscillation / Vibration is one complete motion from equilbrium position back to equilibrium position

  4. Force is not constant, therefore • 1. cannot use kinetic equations of motion • 2. work done by spring (elastic) force can’t just be written as • FORCE X DiSTANCE

  5. Spring force is a conservative force • Can show that Spring Potential Energy Total mechanical energy due to spring is conserved

  6. Get same type of motion by displacing ANY elastic material a small amount from its equilibrium position.
