HOW TO USE IT? Wefeelthat the best way to use our brain is to think and organizeourmindbasically in twoways: • logically, by approaching reality throughproblemsolving, • creatively, by inventingsomethingwhichturnsusintokinds of «demiurges» in recombining the data of reality intonewer and newerpatterns and forms.

The complex nature of the social brain • What can weexpect of ourdeveloping social brain? • How doesitrespond to small or large social gathering? • How isourbehaviourwhenwe are in a social settingdifferent from ourbehaviourwhenwe are alone? • Are there gender differences in our social brain? • Let’sexplore…
Wehave to consider… • COGNITION • SOCIAL STRESS • SOCIAL BONDING • SOCIAL BIAS • PEER PRESSURE • SOCIAL DIFFICULTIES
We must take into account that: - the brain maturesslowlyand oftendoesnot complete maturityuntilwe are in ourteens and 20s; • to develop social cognitive skillsstudentshave to spend some part of theirlearning time in groups; • options for grouping: pair-share, competitions, simulations, cooperative groupsand structure social time for discussion; • social play has an importantrole in the classroom: itregulates stress, improvescreativity, forges social bonds, decisionmaking, and introducescodes of conduct.
COMMON SOURCES OF DEMOTIVATION * lack of positive relationship * perception of threats * brain anomalies * drug use * perceptionthatclassassignments or tasks are irrelevant * lack of psychologicalsupport
How can we motivate students? In what ways is the brainnaturallymotivated from within? Through: * rewards(natural to the brain), * a meaningfulappropriate curriculum, * the choice of positive social grouping, * a supportiveenvironment.
Summing up… 2 «goldenrules»: 1. BE POSITIVE 2. HELP STUDENTS TO THINK POSITIVELY SO THEY WILL SUCCEED IN TRUSTING THEIR OWN CAPABILITIES!! We can do greatthings: «THINKING» HOW TO WORK TOGETHER!
