Requisites of an Effective Career Coaching System Safe, Secure and Confidential Interaction • A career coaching system that offers student consulting services needs to ensure that its interaction with each of the clients is carried out in a secure and confidential manner. The system will need to have in place provisions to help students feel safe about discussing their career plans without worrying about this information being leaked outside. Maintaining a strict level of confidentiality is, therefore, one of the main requisites of an effective career coaching system.

Requisites of an Effective Career Coaching System Provision of Multiple Assessment Features • Just like the role of a college advisor is to advise the right college for a student based on his/her abilities and preferences, the role of a career coaching system will relate to advising the client on the right career path based on his/her goals, aspirations, abilities and constraints. Therefore, the system will need to have in place more than one assessment feature to gauge the client’s career aspirations and preferences. Accordingly, some of these features include skills assessments, interest assessment, personality assessment, matching right person/right job assessment, mentoring component and leadership skill development, etc.

Requisites of an Effective Career Coaching System Flexible Delivery System • An effective career coaching system will need to have a flexible delivery system that works according to the client’s individual needs. For instance, while an individual in search of student consultant services may approach the firm in person, another may choose to interact with the system over the phone. As such, the system must be flexible enough to accommodate changing needs of the client. It needs to be approachable in multiple manners, including, but not limited to, telephone, the internet, and face-to-face meetings. The career coaching system should also be self-paced, allowing clients to create and manage the student planning activities at their own pace. Above all, the system will have to generate individual and personalized career development plans for each client approaching it. This plan will need to contain details like goals, skills development, training responsibilities, and so forth.
