  3. Politics outweighs “the public good” • The “MY BILL” syndrome • Bills voted on (and laws made) by legislators who have ZERO knowledge of the contents of the bills

  4. Bridge bill (HB400) • Attached on last night of session to SB278 • Never discussed by a Senate committee, but approved by them anyway • Elimination of future payments to holders of administrative certificates who remain in classroom (Never discussed by the House, but approved by them anyway)

  5. HB251 • Mandates intradistrict transfers for students • Includes Senator Tommie Williams’ nepotism language (from SB84) • SB44 • Mandates that local boards “give consideration” to Georgia companies when making purchases • Urged by a Georgia company that failed to win a competitive bid

  7. SB84 (School Board Governance) • HB100 (Donations to organizations providing “neo-vouchers”) • SB90 (Vouchers for all, a cornerstone of Senator Eric Johnson’s campaign for Governor, as well as that of John Oxendine)

  8. HR1 (Caps the annual growth on the assessed value of property) • The end of the “birthday tax” on cars???

  9. NO ONE need pay taxes (Apparently, public services are free!) • Impact of 2010 gubernatorial campaign (and, campaigns for other statewide offices) will have major impact in next session
