Equation • 235U+1 Neutron-2 Neutrons+92Kr+142Ba+energy In this equation 235 uranium atoms and 1 neutron become 2 neutrons,92 krypton atoms,142 bromine atoms, and energy
Endothermic or Exothermic • Our reaction is exothermic because it releases energy rather than absorbing it.
The Reverse Reaction • The reverse reaction is called nuclear fusion. In nuclear fusion 2 nuclei form a heavier nucleus. This is what creates stars. It would be endothermic because the reactants would absorb energy.
Enthalpy • The enthalpy in our reaction is negative because heat is lost from the reactants to products.
Entropy • The entropy in our reaction decreases because the moles lower from the reactants to products.
Spontaneous or Not? • Due to the fact that our change of enthalpy is negative and our entropy is positive our reactions is spontaneous.
