Add Entrance Effects and Change Effect Options Exercise 10-1 1 To apply animation to a selected object: • From the Animations tab, in the Animation group, click the More button (or in the Advanced Animation group, click the Add Animation button) to see the gallery of effects. • Point to effects for a live preview. • Click to apply an effect. • An animation tag will appear next to the object. Apply a Motion Path to an Object and Remove Animations Exercise 10-3 1 • To remove an animation effect from an object, use one of these methods. • Select the animation tag number on the slide and press <Delete>. • From the Animation Pane, select the animation in the list and press <Delete> or click the Remove button.
Animate Chart Elements Exercise 10-4 1 • With the chart selected, from the Animations tab, in the Advanced Animation group, click the Add Animation button, and choose an Entrance effect. • Click the Animation Pane button. In the Animation list, click the chart list box arrow then choose Effect Options. • Click the Chart Animation tab, click the Group chart list box arrow, and choose By Category or By Series. • Clear the check box for Startanimation by drawing the chart background. Modify Animations Exercise 10-5 2 To set automatic animation on a selected object: • In the Animation pane, click the list box arrow, and choose Start After Previous. • The animation items are renumbered • In the animation list a clock icon replaces the mouse icon in front of the animation name, indicating that the animation will start automatically. • When multiple animations have been applied with the After Previous setting: • All the animation tags on the slide will contain the same number, indicating that they are one animation sequence.
Modify Animations Exercise 10-5 2 To change animation duration on a selected object: • In the Animation pane, click the list box arrow, and choose Timing. • From the Start list box, choose After Previous. • From the Timing tab, change Duration to the number of seconds you need. • Add seconds for Delay if you want the animation to start after a particular amount of time. • Click OK. These adjustments can be controlled using commands on the Animations tab in the Advanced Animation and Timing groups.
Modify Animations Exercise 10-5 2 To add a Trigger to control what starts the animation: • From the Animations tab, in the Advanced Animation group, click the Trigger button, and choose On Click of and then the object. • This makes the animation start when that object is clicked. • Adjust the Duration as needed. These adjustments can be controlled using Effect Options from the list on the Animation pane.
Exercise 10-6 2 • In the Animation pane, click the object’s list box arrow and choose Effect Options. • A dialog box for the particular effect chosen will open. • The options vary, depending on the animation. • Click the Sound list box arrow then scroll down the lists of sounds and select one. • Click OK. Reorder and Sequence Animations Exercise 10-7 2 Bulleted text can appear in different sequences: • As One Object. The selection appears and is animated as one object. • All at Once. All items appear at once, but the animation effect is applied to each part individually. • By Paragraphs. Each bullet and subset of bullets are brought in together.
Reorder and Sequence Animations Exercise 10-7 2 To change animation sequence: • From the Animation pane, select an item in the animation list. • Click the Re-Order up arrow or down arrow to move the item into a different position. • The items are automatically renumbered in the list and on the slide. Exercise 10-8 2 • From the Animation pane, select an item in the Animation list and click its list box arrow. • Choose Timing and a dialog box for this effect opens. • On the Timing tab, in the Delay spin box, key 2 (for two seconds). • Click OK. This adjustment can be controlled from the Animations tab, in the Timing groups, using the Delay spin box.
Exercise 10-9 2 • When an animated object is copied, animation effects are copied, also. • Copying can save a lot of time for elaborate animations that take many steps to create. • Copied animations can be pasted on the same slide or a different slide. • The Animation Painter button (Animation tab, Advanced Animation group), enables you to copy animation effects from one object and apply them to a different object. Insert Clip Art Audio Exercise 10-10 3 • From the Insert tab, in the Media group, click the bottom of the Audio button and select Clip Art Audio. • The Clip Art pane opens, displaying icons for sound files. In the Search for box, key an appropriate word and click Go. • Click the Results should be list box arrow, and be sure Audio is checked. • Choose Preview/Properties to hear the audio file. • Click the audio thumbnail to insert it. • In a slide show the audio will play when clicked. Control Start and Playback Options Exercise 10-11 3 • Select the music object in the Animation pane. Change the Start setting to With Previous. • Choose Effect Options. The Play Sound dialog box opens, displaying the Effect tab. • For Start playing, choose From beginning. • For Stop playing, choose After current slide. • On the Audio Settings tab, click the Speaker button and turn down the Sound volume. • Place a check in the Hide sound icon during slide show option so that the speaker icon is not visible. • Click OK. Exercise 10-16 4 • From the Insert tab, in the Media group, click the bottom of the Video button and select Video from File. • Locate your file and click Insert. • Allow the video to start Automatically. • Resize as appropriate. • Preview the slide show to watch the video then press <Esc> to end the slide show. Exercise 10-19 5 To create an Action Button to return to a menu slide: • From the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click the Shapes button. • Under the Action buttons category, select an Action Button and draw a small rectangle. • In the Action Settings dialog box, click the Hyperlink to list box arrow and choose Slide. • In the Hyperlink to Slide dialog box, choose the slide that contains your menu. Click OK. • Click OK again to close the Action Settings dialog box. Any shape can be made to hyperlink using the Action button on the Insert tab. Figure 10-21

Lesson 10 Presentation Use animation to add interest and help control the timing for how information is revealed to your audience. Record someone’s voice for your presentation to play when his or her picture appears. Be sure all effects are used for a purpose.
