  2. Today’s Targets • Apply knowledge of editing, composition, camera angle, etc. techniques to full film • Identify formal techniques in full film • Analyze the use and meaning of these techniques • Evaluate the use of these techniques in communicating meaning

  3. Today’s Activities • Watch video tutorial • Chapter 6: Cinematography “Zoom and Moving Camera Effects” and “The Moving Camera” and fill in information on Chapter 6 Text Assignment handout from Tuesday • Watch North by Northwest

  4. Review of formal analysis tutorial • Watch video tutorial for chapter 1: formal analysis of Juno • Purpose of watching again: To remind you of where you should aim to get in your depth and specificity of analysis

  5. North by Northwest viewing • Film background • Released in 1959 • Directed by Alfred Hitchcock • As you view, select four scenes that you think reflect strong, clear, or interesting examples of editing, camera angle, composition, or otherwise make them worthy of formal analysis • Record these on the handout provided http://neveryetmelted.com/2008/01/04/cary-grants-north-by-northwest-suit/
