  2. Plot Summary • Living in a crazy family can be difficult to face! Doug Swieteck, the main character, has a lot to deal with at home. His father is abusive, mother is passive aggressive, his brothers are less than supportive, and not to mention they just moved to a new city. Seems like a lot to handle, huh? That’s only the beginning! Being a new student, he must find where he belongs. After embarrassment his spirits seem to be broken until he meets a spunky new friend, Lil Spicer. Doug channels his emotions into his artwork. This coming of age story represents the little bit of Doug we have in all of us.
