Coat The Papillion’s ears they’re as you may look at it are kind of like Butterflies’ wings or Elephants’ ears because there big and thin. It has long hair on the ears to cover up the ears, if it had short hair you could see its ear skin and it would not be pretty. A Papillon can’t live outside cause of its long coat. If you have 2 and a half feet of hair and you couldn’t live outside because of your hair because the long hair gets dirty and full of knots. A Papillon has a fluffy spot on it’s chest and a plum of hair on it’s body it’s like a big puffy spot on you and it makes you feel like a king or queen.
Health You know about cancer and blindness well, dogs have the same thing except with bone problems. You can test for the Papillon are the knee in case of a patellar luxation, and the eye in case of blindness. It’s like a cancer test for people over the age of 50. You know the major health problems but the Papillon doesn’t have any major health concerns, so yay, no cancer test or overpriced surgery. Minor health concerns for the Papillon are PDA, and patellar luxation. The Papillon only needs a daily walk around the park.
History The Papillion is kinds of dog breed from the 1600’s, the ending or the closing of the mediaeval times. In France, they were one of the original toy dog breed’s. It was kind of like the top dog or most popular. They were used for companions and pets for families in France so if you were living in that time you would probably have that kind of dog. Later on that century, Italy and Spain came fond of these dogs and so was Louie XIV of France, and Henry the third they liked the dog so if you time traveled a little farther and you were in Italy that would be the new dog. Papillon dogs came to America by travelers from England and Italy and sometimes with the pioneers. Another name for the dog back then “Squirrel Spaniel” because it had the tail like a squirrel and it was a little bigger than a squirrel. The AKC (American Kennel Club) recognized the Papillion in 1915 as a member of the toy group since it was so small. It was the representative or the AKC dog on the cover in 1937 for the books. It took 21-22 years to make it on the cover so that’s a long time just to have your photo taken with all the grooming and brushing.
Fun Facts You know how research papers have these cool facts about the thing that there doing about, well same here. Did you know there’s a school in the U.S.A.is called Petit Papillon it’s a arts and dance school!! Did you know that the Papillon is one of the smartest toy dog breeds in the toy group or like the Einstein of the toy group!! The Papillon is one of the quietest (doesn’t bark a lot) toy dog breeds of them all so it’s the calmest! Marie Antoinette a queen of France, was an admirer of the Papillon ( She either had a lot of them or liked them, maybe both).
