Introduction • Introduction to an Induction Portal on Basic Human Rights: Educational programmes/ courses under the E-Learning Project of the SAHRC. • Other courses: Promotion of Access to Information (PAIA); Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act (PEPUDA); Promotion of Access to Information (PAJA).
Mandate • One of the mandates - “promotion of human rights”. • Fulfill through, providing education and training workshops, staging campaigns, giving presentations, hosting seminars, conducting community outreach, etc
Traditional Approaches • Traditional approaches of classrooms and instructions where education officers facilitate, train, conduct workshops, other human rights interventions.
New Approaches:E-Learning • New approaches: Effective, but saw a need to introduce new and innovative human rights awareness approaches to assist in extending the depth and breath/ reach of our interventions. • E-Learning: E-Learning focuses on learning that is build on blended experiential learning methods and is mainly self-directed supported by coaching. • Internet based and self-directed: Take learning to the workplace, homes, schools, etc • No internet or computers: Disc, training manual, face to face workshop
Conclusion • Socially- significant: Have to make an impact where it matters most • Educationally vibrant: Make learning an exciting experience for individuals, colleagues, families, learners, etc • Technologically relevant: Computers, internet, mobile phones, Bluetooth, 3G, IPOD, play station etc
