  2. 瑪拉基亞 • The new age imminent in Haggai and Zechariah has not come and there is a moral disillusion. For Malachi a new is held out but this is not longer presented as something soon to be

  3. 瑪拉基亞 • The prophet Malachi is the one who prophesied the coming of Elijah before the Messiah (Mt.17:10) this was also the role of John the Baptist (Mt.11:10)

  4. 瑪拉基亞 • The prophet presents the Day of the Lord as the day when the “Sun of Justice” will rise. This Sun of Justice is seen by Zechariah in Lk 1:78

  5. 瑪拉基亞 • Two main themes are found in Malachi. • The failure of priest and of the people in their religious duties. • The scandal of mixed marriage and divorce

  6. 瑪拉基亞 • The day of YHWH will arrive to purify the priesthood, destroy the wicked and to secure the triumph of the upright. The remnant of the Lord will be his “most valued possession” (3:17)
