  2. The water • The water is an essential component of every alive being. It is the most necessary substance for the life.

  3. Causes of contamination of water • Industry: -Construction, energy, texture and leather, pasta and paper

  4. Causes of contamination of water • Urban spillages:

  5. Causes of contamination of water • Agriculture and cattle: In agriculture the crops are fertilizated with inorganic fertilizants. The rain sweep away part of that products to the rivers.

  6. Causes of contamination of water • Navigation:

  7. Causes of contamination of water • Radioactive pollution:

  8. Interesting facts • According to a study of the Technical University of Catalonia, the big oil tankers spill to the sea Mediterranean, in the Catalan zone inhabitant of the Balearic Islands, approximately 2.000 tons per year of hydrocarbons, for the most part in furtive tasks of cleanliness in high seas. For an oil tanker it is much cheaper to clean his tanks out of port.

  9. Ways to prevent the pollution of water • To take care of the vegetation of the high plateaus and head-boards of the rivers, avoiding the felling of the forests. • To protect the water sources, not throwing garbage or faecal residues in them. • To construct lavatories and septic wells. • To construct plants of treatment of waste water. • To realize educational campaigns to achieve positive attitudes towards the conservation of the water.

  10. Prestige • The ship Prestige which was transporting a load of 77.000 tons of fuel oil, split in two and sank opposite to the coasts of Galicia up to a depth of 3.500 meters, spilling its content to the sea.

  11. Fukushima • As consequence of this earthquake it was produced a tsunami that caused the nuclear accident in Fukushima (Japan).
