Beginning Conversation • Data discussion with Principals in May based upon disaggregation of quick scores • Focus on areas of improvement utilizing staff strengths, scheduling and resources • Identify goals for upcoming year and establish benchmarks for principal’s evaluation • Preliminary determination of AMO achievement and Gap closure
Data Driven Instruction • Data teams established at every school • Data teams meet every six weeks a week after grading periods end • Analyze fresh academic and non-academic data • Discovery Education formative assessment program utilized in grades 1-8, Algebra I and English I & II
Benchmark Testing • Three benchmarks are given throughout year • Data is analyzed and discussed at principals’ meeting showing trends and comparisons • Data Teams analyze at school level and discuss by grade level in meetings • Teachers analyze class data to drive instruction
Data Boards • Teachers create data boards for their class • TCAP data and formative assessment data along with demographic information is included on board • Teachers use data to set goals with students • Students track their own progress relative to their goals from benchmark to benchmark
Pearson Access • State data can be utilized to help focus instructional priorities for the year. • Re-rostering function can be used to roster students that are in your current class utilizing their previous year’s state test results. • Reporting category performance report can be used to provide strands with greatest opportunity for improvement.
Professional Development Common Core Roll-Out to Teachers

All Math and ELA teachers from Loudon County were given an overview of the upcoming Common Core/PARCC Implementation Overview of MATH and ELA CCSS Spring 2012
All teachers from Loudon County were trained in the CCSS –ELA and Math K-12 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT August 2, 2012August 3, 2012 ALL teachers from Loudon County were trained in the CCSS implementation in conjunction with the new teacher evaluation model
All ELA teachers in Loudon County received Common Core READING training. K-12 Professional Development-ELA 2012 August 27-31, 2012Sept. 4-7, 2012Sept.10-14, 2012 All ELA teachers in Loudon County received Common Core WRITING Training. All ELA teachers in Loudon County received Common Core SPEAKING / LISTENING AND LANGUAGE training.
All ELA teachers in Loudon County received Common Core PERFORMANCE BASED ASSESSMENT training. K-12 Professional Development-ELA Sept. 17-21, 2012May 6-10, 2013 All ELA teachers in Loudon County received Six Trait Writing training.
All new ELA teachers from Loudon County were trained in the CCSS –READING and WRITING NEW TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CCSS - ELA August 21 & 22, 2013September 4 & 11, 2013 ALL new ELA teachers from Loudon County were trained in the CCSS SPEAKING/LISTENING, LANGUAGE AND PERFORMANCE BASED ASSESSMENTS
2 Day training with Principals & Assistant Principals CCSS ELA Strategies. Administrator Professional Development July 24 & 25, 2013August 2013 Development of Lead Teacher & Assistant Principal Program to implement CCSS ELA for peer led mentoring at each Loudon County School.
Selected teachers from each of the 9 schools in Loudon County attended a 1 day collaboration on TNCORE CCSS ELA training administering state provided ELA units. Lead Teacher Professional Development September 9, 2013October 3, 2013January & April 2014 Debriefing of implementation of ELA units. Collaboration on TNCORE CCSS ELA CLOSE READS provided by the state. Teachers will implement in classrooms and debrief at next meeting. Teachers will lead discussion of the administering of CLOSE READS. Teachers will begin to support teammates in implementing UNITS and CLOSE READS in K-12 classrooms.

Loudon County Instructional Coach will train all Loudon County K-3 teachers and K-12 RTI and Special Education teachers. Other districts are invited to attend training. TNCORE READING TRAINING BY LOUDON COUNTY INSTRUCTIONAL COACH Fall 2013Winter 2014Spring 2014 TNCORE READING training continues for K-3 teachers and K-12 RTI and Special Education teachers. Training will end in May 2014 Training for Loudon County and other districts continue for K-3 teachers and K-12 RTI and Special Education teachers.

K-8 Professional Development CCSS -Math Summer 2013August 19 & 20, 2013Fall 2013Summary 100% of Loudon County teachers trained in implementing CCSSM, development of tasks, and sample videos. Remaining teachers of Loudon County received two day training by TNCORE Coach to implement CCSSM. Development of math tasks and sample teacher videos to further CCSSM implementation.

Teacher led coaching PLCs on facilitation of math tasks to implement CCSSM.

Connecting Student Data to Teacher Evaluations • Teachers take a hard look at student growth scores • Administrators at the school and district level meet with individual teachers to review student growth scores and teacher evaluation scores and how they relate to each other
School Administrator training • Understanding Common Core standards • How does Common Core instruction differ from previous instructional models • How does Common Core assessment differ from previous models • What does student mastery look like in a single evaluation observation?
Uncommon Approach using data to plan for differentiation • The teacher works to ensure that all students have “respectful” work. Define the areas for work through item analysis and topic disaggregation. • The teacher emphasizes individual growth as central to the success of the classroom. • The teacher makes sure differentiation is always “a way up”, never “ a way out”. • The teacher seeks specialists’ active partnership in the classroom (RTI, SPED, ELL, etc.) • The teacher’s differentiation is largely proactive, rather than reactive. In other words, it takes PLANNING.
