  2. A Brief History Spelman College is a private, independent, liberal arts, historically Black college for women. The college was founded in 1881 with a mission to provide the highest level of education of Black women in the South

  4. Location The gated campus is located in the Atlanta University Center (AUC) AUC: • Spelman • Morehouse • Clark-Atlanta University • Morehouse School of Medicine • Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC)

  5. Statistics • Enrollment - More than 2100 students from 46 states and 16 countries. • Student-Faculty Ratio -12:1 • 80% of faculty hold PhDs or other terminal degrees (highest degree in a field of study).

  6. Statistics • 78% graduation rate. The highest amongst HBCUs • 1st in the nation for sending African-American females to medical school • 77% graduate school/job placement rate. The national placement rate is 25%

  7. Student Life Events and activities are held throughout the year. There are more than 100 registered student organizations; includes seven Greek letter organizations.

  8. Residence Life Spelman has 12 residence halls with active residence life counsels, computer lounges, and other amenities.

There are 30 participating institutions within the US. • No additional tuition for this program
