PROJECT OBECTIVES • The overall objective of the project is to improve diet and health related policy interventions by providing a scientifically sound evidence basis on the effectiveness of past interventions. The specific objectives are to: • (1) Assess the efficacy of past interventions in improving dietary and health outcomes, and identify promising avenues for the future • (2) Assess the acceptability of potential future interventions and generate best-practice guidelines for implementation. • (3) Provide policy, data collection and monitoring advice in relation to healthy eating.
POLICY SCOPE • ‘Healthy Eating’? Broadly defined as conformity with WHO norms • Policy scope – all policies promoting such conformity • Key issue – where do we draw the line? How macro do considered policies need to be?
WORKPACKAGES • WP1: Benchmarking nutrition interventions in Europe, their evaluation and identification of successes and failures (UGENT; uread, au, unibo, inran, jumc;all) • WP2: Review and quantitative evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions (UREAD; unibo, ugent; au inran, jumc, eufic)
WORKPACKAGES • WP3:Private sector marketing effectiveness and relevance to public sector marketing (AU; eaca, jumc, kraft, eufic, ugent, uread;all) • WP4: Public acceptance of interventions (UNIBO; uread, ugent; au inran, jumc, eufic)
