Caningeraba State School Energy Safety Week 2009 ‘In the Kitchen’ SWITCHED ON™ STUDENTS ENTRY
This year, in Term 3, 6 PW participated in Energy Safety Week. Why we decided to get involved in Energy Safety Week? We thought it was important because energy is such a integral part of our everyday lives and we must be aware of the safety issues and the environmental impact on our earth. Energy Safety Week – 2009 ‘In the Kitchen’
Communicating the message about safety was a big part of what we wanted to do. 6PW decided to create Energy Safety and Efficiency mobiles using our drawings and a variety of art materials.
Q: How could making mobiles help to create a safer environment for us? A: By placing safety messages into a creative piece of art, we were able to discuss situations where risks may occur, whether they be in the classroom, at home or where we play.
The results were amazing! The mobiles displayed situations such as ‘before and after’ and dangerous vs. safe behaviour with energy. Other students learned about energy safety and efficiency when visiting our classrooms. The mobiles were on display before and during Energy Safety Week. We now have them on display at the Caningeraba ‘Art Show’. I enjoyed making my mobile. I learnt more about energy safety and efficiency by doing this activity. Jamie
