  1. EEE 201 -- Preparation for The Culminating Experience for EEE Graduate Students What do you have to do to finish your degree? How do you go about deciding among your options?

  2. Approaching Your Project • OK. So, you are well along with your coursework and have figured out how to succeed in the MS EEE Program. • You have successfully decided what your elective course concentration will be, but what will you do for your culminating experience?

  3. EEE 201 -- Research Methodology • If you haven’t already, and you anticipate being ready to start a project or thesis in the next semester, you should register for EEE 201. • This course is designed to help you become familiar with all the requirements for EEE 500 – Culminating Experience, and help you to find a Project/Thesis topic and a faculty advisor.

  4. Requirements for EEE 201 • You must be a “fully classifiable” graduate student in the EEE MS Degree Program. • You should have satisfied the University Writing Proficiency Requirement.

  5. The EEE 201 Class Schedule • The course is conducted completely via WebCT accessed through the CSUS web site (https://online.csus.edu/). Access requires a Saclink account. • Syllabus and information on accessing EEE 201 through WebCT are available on the Graduate Coordinator’s Homepage… (http://www.csus.edu/indiv/o/oldenburgj).

  6. Some Topics Covered… • University regulations concerning enrollment in EEE 500 – Culminating Experience • The EEE 500 Topic Form -- Abstract, Methodology and form completion • Plagiarism -- What is it? How do you avoid it? What are its consequences? • What are the research interests of the Faculty? Who will be my project chair?

  7. EEE 201 Assignments • There are bi-weekly assignments via WebCT. • Students must complete all assignments “satisfactorily” as determined by the instructor in order to receive credit (CR) for EEE 201. • Confirmation of satisfactory assignment completion is available from the Grade Book on the EEE 201 WebCT site.

  8. Frequently Asked Questions • Here are answers to a number of questions that have come up most frequently about the EEE 201 class.

  9. Do I have to be “Classified” in order to enroll in EEE 201? • No, but you must be at least “conditionally classified” and ready to complete those conditions by the end of the semester. • If conditionally classified, you must file a request petition for full classification as soon as you have completed the specified conditions.

  10. Must I have satisfied the WPE Requirement before I enroll in EEE 201? • You should have done so, but you must do so before you register for EEE 500. • If necessary, you may take the WPE during the semester in which you take EEE 201.

  11. What can I do if I must submit an assignment late? • You must contact the instructor before the due date, explain your circumstances, and request permission to submit the assignment late.

  12. What will happen if I do not achieve a CR grade? • If all but a few assignments are complete, you may request permission from the instructor to receive an “I” grade for the class and complete it at a later date. • If more than a few assignments are incomplete or “unsatisfactory” you will receive an NC grade and will have to REPEAT EEE 201.

  13. Will I still be able to register for EEE 500 in the next semester if I have an “I” or an NC grade in EEE 201? • If you have an NC grade you will be required to register for both EEE 201 and EEE 500. In either case you must have completed an approved EEE 500 Topic Form in order to register for EEE 500.

  14. What do I do next? • Get your Saclink account. • Go to WebCT 6 on the University web site and log in. • Select EEE 201-- Research Methodology • Download the first assignment from the Contents Module
