NASYADESCRIPTION OF NASYA Time of Administration:- In Kapha Roga – Fore Noon In Pittaja Roga – Noon In Vataj Roga – After noon Ritu Evum Kala (Season And Time) [Su. Chi. 40/53] Pravrita, Sharda and Vasant are the best sesons for nasya administration. Whether should neither be too hot nor too cold. (a) In Grishama ---- Nasya should be given before noon. (b) In Sharda ------- Nasya should be given afternoon. (c) In varsha --------- Nasya should be given on a clear day i.e. non- cloudy.

NASYADESCRIPTION OF NASYA Dose HinaMatra – 4 drops MadhyamaMatra – 6 drops UttamaMatra – 8 drops For Stambhanae.g. in case of Rakata-pitta etc. Nasya should be given with Kalka, Sharkaram, Ikshu-rasa, Milk, Ghrita, Mansa-Rasa and honey. For shodhan,; Saindhavpiplyadi Kalka etc. should be used (Chakrapani). Sanghya-PrabhodhakaNasya should be given to restore senses in case of snake bite, Vishpidita (Intoxicated), Mada, Apsamara, Krodha etc.
NASYADESCRIPTION OF NASYA 3. Dhampana/Pradhamana Nasysa (Su.Ch. 40/46, Ch. Si. 9/107) Churana i.e. powered drug is blown into the nostril with the help of a 6 finger long Nadi-Ynatra. It is a specific shohdana Nasya. Indications:- Mansika roga – mental disorders Krimij shiroroga Vishpidit – Intoxicated. Dose:- One Muchyuti i.e. A pinch [i.e. drug taken between thumb and fore finger. In the alternative method as described by videh powered drug in the dose of shukti pramana i.e. 2 tola is packed in bolus and is inhaled through nostrils.
NASYADESCRIPTION OF NASYA 4. Dhoom Nasya: - (Ch.Su. 5/45) Medicated smoke inhaled through nostrils and exhaled through buccal cavity is known as Dhooma. Dhooma inhaled through nostrils should be exhaled through buccal cavity but it is not advisable to take Dhoom orally and exhale through Nostrils, as it is harmful to eyes. Types:- 1. Prayogika 2. Snehika 3. Vairechanika Indications:- 1. shiroroga 2. NasaRoga 3. AkshiRoga Dose:- 3-3 puffs.
NASYADESCRIPTION OF NASYA 5.Marsh-Pratimarsh Nasya (Ch. Si. 9/12, A.H.Su. 20/7, Su. Chi 40/52) In both of these medicated oil is instilled in the nostrils. Dose is the difference between them. Pratimarsh Nasya:- it is well tolerated and very convenient to use. Can be given in all seasons. Should be given twice daily i.e. in morning and evening. It strengthens the body. It can be given throughout the life i.e. from birth till death. Indications:- It is indicated especially in Bala, Vridha, Sukumar, Weak and Kshat-peedita i.e. injured.

Dip the finger in medicated oil and drop in the nostril.

NASYAPROCEDURE OF NASYA PREPARATORY PHASE PATIENT IS MADE TO SIT OR LYE ON NASYA CHIAR OR BED, WITH HEAD END SLIGHTLY DOWNWARD. COVER HIS EYES WITH A CLEAN BANDAGE. MASSAGE HIS HEAD, FORE HEAD, CHEEKS ETC. WITH OIL LIKE KSHEER BALA, DHANVANTER, DHASHMOOL ETC. FOR 10 – 15 minutes FOLLOWED BY A LIGHT FOMENTATION.
