Creative Shading of Spaces Objective: You will use value in order practice for shading on realistic objects. DRILL: • You need a pencil, a ruler, and scrap paper from Miss Gauger • In your sketchbook- Draw a design using at least 10 lines and 10 shapes. Use a ruler and/or shapes to trace from stencils or rectangles/ circles from back. • We will use gradual and stepped shading to fill the spaces. • Then we can use mark-making and color.
Criteria: • 10 shapes • 10 lines- any type TYPES OF SHADING: • Gradual shading- dark to light. • Gradual shading- dark to light to dark. • Step shading with 5 different shades. • Some type of mark-making- scribbling, hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, squares, stars, etc… • Colored Pencil
Colored Pencil Objective: You will use color in order to create value to your spaces. DRILL: • What is the difference between these 2 pictures? (Shading) • Get a box of colored pencils from cabinet and turn to the page from yesterday.
Why is this poor shading? • Can see lines. • Messy GOOD BECAUSE: • Gradual dark to light
Mark- Making Objective: You will use a variety of mark-making techniques in order to create value in your spaces. DRILL: • What is mark-making? • We will do 4 types: • Hatching • Cross-hatching • Stippling • Your choice
Criteria: • 10 shapes • 10 lines- any type TYPES OF SHADING: • Gradual shading- dark to light. • Gradual shading- dark to light to dark. • Step shading with 5 different shades. • 5 spots type of mark-making- scribbling, hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, squares, stars, etc… • Colored Pencil- 5 spots
