Agenda • About the Computer Society Digital Library (CSDL) • How does it differ from the ACM digital library • Member Access and Subscription Options • CSDL Demo • Q&A
What is the CSDL? • It is the IEEE Computer Society’s (CS) digital library served from www.computer.org • It contains all IEEE CS published periodicals, including all available archives • It contains all IEEE CS CPS published proceedings, with archives back to 1995 • It is a subset of computing content that is also found in Xplore (IEEE’s platform for accessing IEEE’s intellectual property)
Depth of Content…CSDL includes • Over 600,000 computing articles and papers • 37 periodicals, including archives • Legacy data back to 1968 • 9,000+ conference proceedings papers, archived from 1995 • Online publication in advance of print issues
Thirteen MagazinesPractice-oriented for immediate solutions • Annals of the History of Computing • Cloud Computing • Computer • Computer Graphics and Applications • Computing in Science & Engineering • Intelligent Systems • Internet Computing • IT Professional • Micro • MultiMedia • Pervasive Computing • Security & Privacy • Software • Plus the archives of: • Concurrency • Distributed Systems Online • Design & Test (1984-2014)
Twenty-three TransactionsTop quality, state-of-the-art research • Multi-Scale Computing Systems • Network Science and Engineering • Networking • Parallel and Distributed Systems • Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence • Services Computing • Software Engineering • Sustainable Computing • Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) Systems • Visualization and Computer Graphics • Plus Computer Architecture Letters • Affective Computing • Big Data • Cloud Computing • Computational Biology and Bioinformatics • Computational Intelligence and AI in Games • Computers • Dependable and Secure Computing • Emerging Topics in Computing • Exploratory Solid-State Computation Devices and Circuits • Haptics • Knowledge and Data Engineering • Learning Technologies • Mobile Computing
Increasing Volume of Conferences – The Best Way to Access the Latest Research • Where the most cutting edge research is published first • Leading technology conferences such as • Intl Conference on Big Data and Smart Computing • Intl Symposium on Performance Analysis of Systems and Software • IEEE Conference on Data Engineering • IEEE Real-Time and Embedded Technology and Applications Symposium • and thousands more • For a complete listing of titles, go to http://www.computer.org/csdl • Over 9,000 proceedings articles
CSDL Is Also Multidisciplinary • History – Annals of the History of Computing • Education – IEEE Trans. On Learning Technologies • Graphic Design & Art – IEEE Computer Graphics & Multimedia and IEEE Multimedia • Physics, Medicine, Astronomy, and Mathematics – Computing in Science & Engineering • Psychology and Behavioral Sciences – IEEE Trans. on Affective Computing • Ethics, Law, Business, Information Management, Technology Management – IEEE Security & Privacy and IT Professional
Applications of CSDL content • Research & Development • Technological Precedent & Forecasting • Competitive & Market Intelligence • New Product Information • Current Awareness • Patent-Related Searching
Latest User Interface • CSDL is mobile ready allowing the site to be viewable on multiple device types (phone, tablet, desktop) • Modern look and feel • Ability to include institutional logos • Search results returned faster • ADA compliant • Updated social media tools • Including an inactive notation in Year/Issue pages if there was no publication
Applications of CSDL content • Research & Development • Technological Precedent & Forecasting • Competitive & Market Intelligence • New Product Information • Current Awareness • Patent-Related Searching
How does IEEE CS and CSDL differ from ACM and its digital library? • Both are non-profit organizations covering computing; if you can afford to have both, great, you have everything • CSDL has 30% more articles than ACM (600k+ vs. 464k+) • 600,000+ articles (over 30% more articles ) • IEEE CS puts more emphasis on best practices, industry, applications, the latest research, what professionals should know with a stronger magazines collection (13 titles vs. 6) • IEEE CS does standards development • IEEE CS does certification programs – software, ethical hacking • Our publications are better quality—compare Computer with CACM or IT Professional with Queue
Member Access and Subscription Options • Members with Preferred Plus and Research membership bundles get 12 FREE downloads with their membership • All IEEE CS Student members receive full access to the CSDL with their membership • IEEE CS members can get full access to the CSDL for only $67 for the rest of the calendar year. Price good through 15 August 2017.
