Edinburgh’s degree model • 2 + 2 structure • Two Year Foundation • Two Year Honours • 1st Year: A taste of the subject ‘Core’ subjects studied • Flexibility • You choose • Build your own degree within programme • but also get assistance in choices • Also may take some outside subject(s) • And there is also the ‘year abroad’ (Year 3)
Sample course structure: Business Studies First and Second Years: 1st Year Business Studies 1, Accounting and outside course 2nd Year Business Research Methods I, Marketing, Organisation Studies, Principles of Finance, more BS or other course(s) Third and Fourth Years: 3rd Year Business Research Methods II, Strategic Management, Investment & Securities Markets, Financial Services Marketing, International Employment Relations, Entrepreneurship 4th Year Dissertation, Carbon Management, Advertising, Business Ethics, Corporate Finance (3rd and 4th year: choose from 45 courses)
Opportunities to study abroad Third Year: • Exchange partner institutions in nineteen countries • 14 ERASMUS partners, including in France, Germany, Spain and Turkey • 24 other International partners, including in N. America, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Korea and Australia • 3rd year abroad is compulsory for International Business and Business + Language degrees

Careers • Latest data on destinations of graduating students in business studies and international business (including joint degrees) and showed that: • 78.6% were in employment • 7.1% were undertaking further study/training • 7.1% were not available (e.g. travelling/taking year out) • 2% were doing voluntary work • 5% were seeking employment
