  2. What is Crystal Meth? • Very pure, smokeable form of methamphetamine. • Powerful and extremely addictive man-made stimulant. • Leads to severe physiological and psychological dependence.

Where does it come from? • Methamphetamine is available with a prescription for obesity, ADHD & narcolepsy however Crystal Meth is a street drug made in illegal labs by chemically altering over-the-counter drugs. • Making Crystal Meth usually involved melting down ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, found in cold & allergy medicine.

  5. What are the ingredients? • Brake fluid • Butane (Lighter fluid) • Drano • Ether (Hypnotic effect, Highly flammable) • Ephedrine • Red Phosphorus in match tips • Freon • Battery acid • Paint thinner • Sodium hydroxide – (used to dissolve road kill by most city or state workers)

  7. What does it look like? • Clear crystal chunks. Very similar in appearance to actual ice or glass.

Ingestion effects • Smoking or injecting Crystal Meth produces effects within seconds • Smoking or IV usage produces an intense rush or “flash” that lasts only a few minutes • Snorting takes several minutes for effects but is not as intense as smoking or IV • All ingestion effects release a chemical from the brain called dopamine. Dopamine is the chemical responsible for pleasure.

Short-term effects? • Very similar effects to cocaine however Crystal Meth lasts much longer. • Euphoria • Increased energy and alertness • Diarrhea & Nausea • Excessive sweating • Loss of appetite, insomnia tremors and Jaw-clenching • Talkativeness • Fascination with repetitive tasks • Violence • Increased libido
