Why did God divorce Israel? • Lack of knowledge - of headship of God 4:6 • Pride - a diseased heart 5:5 • Instability - hypocrisy and ritual 6:4 • Worldliness - politics was their God 7:8 • Corruption - rotten religion 9:9 • Backsliding - became habit 11:7 • Idolatry - complete abandonment 13:2 • 1 Cor 6:9 – …”and such were some of you…”

  4. Hosea • Hosea, Joshua and Jesus are names all derived from the same Hebrew root word Hoshea = salvation.  However Jesus has an addition, Yahweh is salvation. Hosea 2:2 • Hosea sets the stage as Gods unfaithful people continue in harlotry and the coming of the Messiah soon to come to buy them back.  To redeem them from their faithlessness and pay the ultimate price for a worthless spouse.  Hosea 4:1-14.

  5. 7 steps to being faithful  to Christ • #1.  God’s LOVE is enough. • Deuteronomy 7:9-11 to a 1000 generations.  • Psalm 86:5-6 In the day of your trouble God is there • Psalm 136:26“For His mercy endures forever!” • Zephaniah 3:17 Oh our Lord God is with us come what may. • Romans 5:8“For God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” • 1 John 4:8“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”

  6. #2.  God Provides • Deuteronomy 1:30-31 …”God carried you, as a father carries his son…” • Hosea 11:3-4 God fed the children of Israel.

  7. #3.  God Comforts • Isaiah 66:12-13“…dandled on her on His knees…” • 2 Corinthians 1:3-4“Safe in the arms of Jesus” comforted by God.

  8. #4. God Protects  • Psalm 17:6-8  He is as close to us as we allow Him to get close to us. • Psalm 57:1-2  How many things does God accomplish?  ALL!

  9. #5.  God is Faithful • Isaiah 49:15-16  Other passages speak of frontlets before our eyes. Scriptures all OVER the place! • 1 Thessalonians 5:24  He will always be faithful to us!

  10. #6.  God Disciplines • Proverbs 3:12  God delights in us.  Remember when David had to choose his punishment?  He chose to be disciplined by God.  God is merciful and loving, forgiving.  Not so us people. • Hebrews 12:5-10 He loves us, He disciplines us.   

  11. #7.  God Saves • Psalm 27:10   God will save us, He promised it.  He will always be faithful to us. • Hebrews 7:25   Always lives to intercede for us?  Oh what a Savior!
