Curley’s Wife • Curley’s wife is quite an evocative character in the book and people react very strongly to her. • We are now going to search for quotes which tell us about her character and what people think of her
Quote Bank • In pairs label yourselves A and B. • Person A is going to find the quote, while person B will write down the quote found. • Macaulay’s row look at pages 32-33 and 91 and find a quote where Steinbeck tells us about Curley’s wife’s appearance. • Jordan’s row look at pages 87-89 and find a quote which lets us know what Curley’s wife thinks and feels. • Caitlin’s row look at pages 51-52 and 33-34 and find a quote where another character describes Curley’s wife. • Lawrence’s row look at pages 78-80 and find a quote which shows Curley’s wife exercising power.
Quote Bank • Once you have selected an appropriate quote write it down onto your coloured piece of paper and hang it from the clothesline at the back of the room, behind your row.
