Lorcaserin is used together with a reduced-calorie diet and proper exercise to help you lose weight, results in modest weight loss of about 12.9 lb (5.8 kg) compared with 5.6 lb (2.5 kg) with placebo. It is also used in overweight people who may also have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease.
