  1. Entry Task: Lab Notebook 2/18/15 • What is your favorite thing about yourself? • Your least favorite? • What comes easy to you? • What do you find difficult? Of the things you wrote down, which do you think you were born with? Which do you have to work on? What is within your control? What is not? Explain!

  2. Self-Assessment How are things going so far in biology this semester? What is easy for you? What is hard? Think about how you spend your time in biology class. Does your current biology grade accurately reflect your level of engagement in the class? How much time outside of class do you spend studying the material?

  3. Commitment to Excellence What are your goals for biology class this semester? We will learn about: • Central Dogma • Mitosis (DNA replication, cell division) • Reproduction, Inheritance, Meiosis • Evolution • Biology End-of-Course Exam: May 28 What grade do you intend to earn in this class? Are you committed to passing the EOC? How will you accomplish your goals?

  4. Partner Share What are traits? What traits are inherited (nature)? What traits are learned (nurture)? How do you know? Construct an explanation for how DNA codes for traits. Be prepared to share with the class.

  5. Unit 4 Exam Review (#1-9) You may revise as follows: • For each incorrect multiple choice question: • Explain why you selected the incorrect answer • Select the correct answer and explain why • Explain where in your notes or class work you found the correct answer. • For question 9: • Explain the inputs and outputs of photosynthesis • Explain the inputs and outputs of cellular respiration • Explain the connection between photosynthesis and cellular respiration

Unit 4 Exam Review (Procedure) You may revise as follows: • Question 10: Procedure • A procedure is a numbered list of steps. • A procedure must make sense! • The purpose of a procedure is to enable someone else to repeat your experiment without your help. • The manipulated, responding, and controlled variables should be obvious to the reader. • Clearly explain what results should be collected, how the results should be collected, and where the data should be stored. • A procedure must be reproducible for the results to be valid. Repeat! Repeat!
