What is YPAR? • Youth Participatory Action Research, or YPAR, is a research methodology that employs the participants themselves – the youth – as researchers, positioning them as experts in the research contexts • Steps in the YPAR process • Identify a problem in their community • Collect data on the problem using various research methodologies • Analyze the data • Draw up an action plan based on the data • Take collective action in addressing the problem in the hopes of creating positive change in their communities.
