Probability • Probability – the chance or likelihood that an event will happen (occur). • On the spinner to the right, all outcomes have an equally likely chance of occurring!
Outcomes • Impossible – there is no chance for the event to occur. On the spinner below, it would be impossible to spin a “9.”
Outcomes • Not likely, less likely, unlikely – there is less than 1/2 probability of the event happening. • On the spinner below, it is unlikely that you would spin a “1”. Since there is only 1 space that contains a 1 and 7 spaces that do not.
Outcomes • Equally likely – there is an equal chance of the event happening or not happening. • On the spinner below, there is an equal chance of spinning a 1, 2, 3, or 4 and an equal chance of not spinning a 1, 2, 3, or 4! • There are a total of 8 outcomes. 4 favorable and 4 not favorable.
