Style • Characteristics of a gothic cottage: -steeply pitched roofs -wall dormers -polygonal chimneys -hood molds over windows -gingerbread trim along the eaves and gable edges
Style • Characteristics of a Gothic Castle: -a large carriage porch entry -large pointed windows with tracery and colored glass -towers -battlements
Bowen House in Woodstock CT. Great example of carpenter Gothic style, using board and batten siding and numerous vertical and gingerbread features.
St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Cahaba Alabamahas the pointed structure of the building and arched windows.
Lyndhurst in Tarrytown NY. It’s Gothic Revival because of its tower, arched windows, and battlement.
St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC. This is an example of Gothic Revival because of the steep towers, arched and stained glass windows.
