  4. 2013-14 Applications • PROBLEM: The need in your community • INTERVENTION: The activities of AmeriCorps members and community volunteers supported by members • EVIDENCE: Data or research that supports the likelihood that your interventions lead to the intended outcome • OUTCOME: The change that occurs because of the intervention

  5. Quantitive Data Performance Measures • Primary • Site Building Capacity • Volunteer General information

  6. Disaster ServicesPrimary Performance Measure Statewide Goal • Output: 60,000 individuals will be trained in disaster preparedness. Actual: 50,222 individuals were trained (2012-13) • Outcome: 45,000 individuals will indicate increased knowledge and/or confidence in their ability to respond personally in the event of a disaster. Actual: 32,460 individuals indicated increased knowledge and/or confidence (2012-13)

  7. How many individuals participated in disaster preparedness training supported by an AmeriCorps member? Document the individuals who participated in training Tools include: • Participant sign in sheets • Class rosters • Statement signed by an official representative

  8. Participant Sign in Sheet

  9. How many of the people trained are considered economically disadvantaged? Determine and document economic status with: • US Census data(majority of group must be at/or below 80% of county’s median income) • Majority of students in school eligible for free or reduced lunch • Eligibility for TANF, food stamps, Medicaid, or Section 8 vouchers If 51% of a group are “economically disadvantaged”, the whole group may be designated as such

  10. Documentation of Economically Disadvantaged Status

  11. How many individuals were trained and indicate that they have increased knowledge or confidence? Survey the participants to assess whether they have increased knowledge or confidence • Written paper survey • Alternatives to written surveys Group is too large to survey individually? Mini-presentations at tabling events?

  12. Written Survey Example

  13. Picture Survey Example(thanks to the American Red Cross Western Washington Chapters)

  14. Mini Quiz Example

  15. Mini Presentation Survey Example

  16. How many people completed a survey? If the # entered here is less than the # of total participants, choose from the following list: • Survey was not available • Participants did not return survey • Participants too young to respond • Participants unable to respond due to physical or cognitive disabilities • Participants not fluent in written language • Other

  18. Volunteer Sign in Sheet Example

  19. General Information • How many disadvantaged children/youth were served? • How many individuals were mentored? • How many individuals were assisted in living independently? • Disaster assistance

  20. Tips for quarterly reports in Google docs • Enter your data once • Answer every question • If it doesn’t apply, enter “0”. • The last quarter ends after the members’ term ends. You are still expected to submit data even if a member has completed the term of service. • Projects can include data from disaster preparedness trainings between 7/15 and 8/30 (after the AmeriCorps members leave) given that the volunteers have been trained by the members and the curriculum and schedules have been developed by them.

  21.
