Do Now • Complete the Do Now you picked up on your way in. • Make sure you pick up your own calculator.
Quiz Friday • Solving Equations • Domain and Range (Today & Tomorrow) • Inverse Functions (Thursday) • Vocabulary (all Unit 1)
Domain and Range 1.8
Today’s Objective • SWBAT find the domain and range of functions given the graph.
Key Points • “All possible” includes any possible number that is outside of the coordinate plane we see • Minimums and maximums tell us where the range starts from/ends • No part of the graph can ever go below/above the min/max.
Key Points • Domain: look left to right • Range: look bottom to top • When the arrows go in both directions we say the domain/range is all real numbers
Picking Out Mins/Maxs • Max: think hill
Picking Out Mins/Maxs • Min: think valley
Picking Out Mins/Maxs • Neither: could have both hills and valleys or neither. Goes above/below hills/valleys.
Minimum Maximum or Neither • If there is a minimum, thumbs down. • If there is a maximum, thumbs up. • If there is neither, closed fist.
Writing the Domain and Range • Min/Max/Neither? • Arrows left/right? • Write the domain. • Arrows up/down? • Write the range.

Practice Time • Your notes has many practice problems to work through. • Make sure you find the min/max (if there is one); then write the domain and range. • You will have _____ minutes to work on the independent practice. • You may work on a quiet code yellow with your partner.
Practice Time Code Yellow • Code yellow during practice time means you are talking about the work in front of you only. • Discuss different problems and help each. • Make sure you both understand. If you do not, raise your hand for some help.
Exit Ticket • Exit tickets are to be completed INDEPENDENTLY and on CODE RED. • As a reminder, Exit Tickets are 10% of your final grade – they can really help your grade out a lot!
Homework • Make sure to use PENCIL. • Homework is due tomorrow. • Use your notes to help you!
