A brief historical note on NOW Seventh edition of the NOW Conference series. Started in 1998 as a topical workshop after the first indications of neutrino oscillations at Neutrino ‘98 (Takayama, Japan). The first edition was held in Amsterdam (NIKHEF, 1998). All the other editions have been held here in Conca Specchiulla.
The second edition The second edition (2000) has been organized here in ConcaSpecchiulla, with the typical structure of a conference … Proceedings appeared as Nucl. Phys. B (Proc. Suppl.) 100 (2001)
The third edition The third edition (2004) has been presented as an adventurous trip around known and unknown lands of the neutrino world… Proceedings appeared as Nucl. Phys. B (Proc. Suppl.) 145 (2005)
Fourth edition The fourth edition (2006) has been introduced through an armillary sphere, whose “armillae” were called to represent different regions of a “neutrino-centered” system … Proceedings appeared as Nucl. Phys. B (Proc. Suppl.) 168 (2007)
Fifth edition For the fifth edition (2008) we have chosen as theme the five Platonic solids, by relating them to different sectors of the neutrino physics … Proceedings appeared as Nucl. Phys. B (Proc. Suppl.) 188 (2009)
Sixth edition For the sixth edition (2010) the theme has been inspired by the Tree of Life, the mosaic of the OtrantoCathedral … Proceedings appeared as Nucl. Phys. B (Proc. Suppl.) 217 (2011)
The present edition (2012) is inspired to the Rose Window of theOtrantoCathedral, re-interpreted as a Neutrino Rose Window …
Indeed, the sectors of the Neutrino Rose Window are used to display the subjects of each the fivesessions of our workshop … together with its title … Neutrino Oscillation Workshop MMXII Session # 5 Messengers of new Physics Session # 4 Messengers of the Universe Session # 2 Oscillations at low energies Session # 1 Absolute Neutrino Mass Scale Session # 3 Oscillations at high energies
Other symbols areinserted in the Neutrino Rose Window, related to the five sessions: the indices of the left and right states Neutrino Oscillation Workshop MMXII Session # 5 Messengers of new Physics the indices of sterile and heavy n Session # 4 Messengers of the Universe the indices of the mand t flavors the indices of the matrix element Uei the first two mass eigenstates Session # 2 Oscillations at low energies Session # 1 Absolute Neutrino Mass Scale Session # 3 Oscillations at high energies the indices of the matrix element Ua3
An interesting Question Who is the author of the Neutrino Rose Window (and of all the posters of the previous editions) ? Eligio Lisi !

A Special Talk This evening a special plenary session will be devoted to a very interesting subject: Vulcanoes and muons by Paolo Strolin
Remembering Milla Let us now pause to remember Milla -MillaBaldoCeolin. She cannot attend NOW anymore, but for all of us she is still present in our hearths.
Milla has been a great friend of NOW. She has been among those who have promoted and supported the NOW series, and we have always received from her encouragement and suggestions. Milla has attended almost all the editions of NOW, always sitting in the first row to follow closely the talks. Let me remind you her participation through some pictures taken at the previous editions:
NOW 2000 Milla at the first edition of NOW in Conca Specchiulla
NOW 2004 Milla at the second edition of NOW in Conca Specchiulla
NOW 2008 Milla at the coffee break of NOW 2008
NOW 2008 As chairperson at NOW 2008
NOW 2010 Again as chairperson at the last edition of NOW, two years ago NOW 2010 has been the last conference attended by Milla In the Fall of 2010, the first symptoms of her disease appeared…
We do not intend to remember Millaonly because of her scientific career, even though she has been one of the most important physicists in Italy in the last fifty years – an outstanding scientist at world level. We want to remember Millaalso for her human qualities, for her enthusiasm, for her role of guidance in the fieldof neutrino physics worldwide. So, we dedicate this edition of NOW - NOW 2012 - to MillaBaldoCeolin.
In particular, we will dedicate to Millathe Introduction to the Proceedings of NOW 2012, with a brief memory of her personality and of her role in neutrino physics. • All those who have memories of Milla and want to share them with us, are asked to write brief note, to tell an episode, or just to share a thought about her. Send your memories to us (now2012@ba.infn.it): we will include them in the Proceedings. Our brief introduction and your notes will remain as a testimony of the relevance of her figure in neutrino physics and of the friendship which she was surrounded from. Thanks to all of you !
