Kandiyohi County Has Its Museum • The Museum Has Historical Information about the county including a list of all the civil war vets. • Lots of schools visit this Museum on field trips • The Kandiyohi County Historical Society is a non-profit 501 (c)3 dedicated to "discovering, preserving, and sharing the story of Kandiyohi County and its people.

Kandiyohi County Info • The county name derives from Dakota term translated as "where the buffalo fish come" • Kandiyohi County is one of 87 counties in Minnesota. • In 2002, the per capita personal income in Kandiyohi County was $29,095. This was an increase of 27.6% from 1997. The 2002 figure was 94% of the national per capita income, which was $30,906.

Beautiful Parks • They are clean, well maintained and offer many great opportunities for rest, recreation and fun for the whole family. • The community takes great pride in their parks!!! • There are over 10 great parks with trials, baseball and softball fields, picnic, volleyball, hiking trails, and other activities offered.

First founded park in 1889!!! • Human habitation in the Lake Itasca area extends back for more than 8,000 years, to an era when Indians using stone-tipped tools stalked bison, moose, and deer • There are more than 100 lakes within the borders of the park, but the most popular is Lake Itasca • Mississippi River begins its 2,500 mile journey to the Gulf of Mexico

Clearwater County • The 83rd of Minnesota’s 87 counties was established by the proclamation of Governor Samuel Van Sant on December 20, 1902. • It is 60 miles in its length and 18 miles in width, lying north and south. • Its name was taken from the Ojibwe word “gawakomitgweia,” which means “clear water”.

Benton County History • Agriculture and dairying, logging, lumbering, granite quarrying and manufacturing have been active industries in the past • There are currently seven parks in the un-incorporated areas of Benton County consisting of approximately 354 acres with frontage on the Mississippi River and access onto Little Rock Lake • Of all the counties on pg. 47 a very big deal for the college and community is HOCKEY!!
