Introduction • There are letters all around us! Do you know the letters of the alphabet? In this Webquest, you will explore and begin learning all of the different letters in the alphabet. Home
Task • After reading the book “Dr. Suess’s ABC,” you will use the computer to complete online activities and games that will help you to learn the letters of the alphabet. You will also take on the roles of a zoo keeper, farmer, marine biologist, and a forest ranger to show the class what types of animals begin with the letters of the alphabet. Home
Resources • Computer- PC or MAC with Flash4player and Java Virtual Machine software • Internet access • Suess, D. (1991). Dr. Suess’s ABC. Process Follow these steps to complete your quest: Step #1:As a class read Dr. Suess’s ABC by Dr. Suess. Step #2: Explore all of the letters on the Starfall ABCs website. Step #3: Play the Pawpark game by visiting the GameGoo website. Step#4: Visit the PlayKidsGames website and play “LetterFire.” Step#5: Go to the teacher and get your object that represents your role. Zoo Keeper QUICK! The zoo’s manager has a very important job for you! There is a Kindergarten class visiting the zoo and they want to learn some of the letters of the alphabet and their sounds. Follow these steps to help teach the students about the letters I, J, L, Z, Y, and K: 1. Complete the 10 minute learning activity to find pictures of zoo animals. 2. Glue animal pictures to construction paper. 3. Find the letter that is at the beginning of each animals name. 4. Tell the class about the letters and animal pictures that you have found. Home

Farmer MOO! The animals on the farm are getting nervous. There is a group of Kindergarteners coming to the farm and there is nothing for them to do. Your job as the farmer is to teach the kids some letters of the alphabet and their sounds. Follow these steps to help teach the students about the letters G, H, P, Q, and C: 1. Marine Biologist HURRY! The boat is about ready to leave and the captain has a very important job for you. Your job as the marine biologist is to teach the Kindergarten students on the boat about some letters of the alphabet and their sounds. Teacher Notes • This Webquest was designed with the intention of using it with Kindergarten students with multiple disabilities. The teacher or teacher’s assistant would be helping the students during the entire Webquest. • This Webquest can be used in a regular education classroom but some adjustment may need to be made. Home
