  3. Open PhotoShop Go to File Select Open… Select the file from you hard drive Begin work on the file Getting Started

  4. Click on Image Select Adjustments, then Levels… A graph of the RGB levels will appear Increasing quality • Adjust the levels with the slide arrows below the graph to adjust the quality of the photograph

  5. To adjust red, green or blue while in Levels, select the desired color from the Channel pull-down menu and adjust with the arrows Another way to adjust colors: Select Image, Adjustments, then Color Balance… Select Shadows, Midtones, or Highlights Slide the arrows on the Red, Green, and/or Blue bars to get the desired color balance Adjusting color

  6. Select Image, then Image size… Key in the desire height or width in either the Pixel Dimensions or Document Size area The program will automatically enter proportional height if you key in the width or the width if you key in the height Adjusting size

  7. Select the Rectangular marquee icon from the tools menu Select the area of the photograph that you want Rectangular marquee Copy the selected area • Select Edit, then Copy

  8. Cut the selected area • Select Edit, then Cut • The selected area will be cut from the photograph Paste the selected area • Open the photograph where you want to paste the area copied or cut • Select Edit, then Pasted • Select the Move tool from the Tool menu • Move the pasted image to the desired location

  9. Open the image Use the Rectangular marquee tool to select the area desired Either Copy or Cut the selected area Select Image, then Crop Select File, then Save as… to rename the cropped photograph Adjusting size by cropping

  10. Open the desired photograph Select the Lasso tool from the Tool menu Use the mouse to outline the desired area Use other editing tools or adjustments on the selected area Tools: Lasso

Open the desired photograph Select the Brush tool from the Tool menu Select Window, then Options The options menu will open on your screen Select Brushes, then the desired size Select Foreground Color from the Tools menu Double click on the Foreground Color icon Select the desired color Select the Brush tool from the Tool menu Draw using the Brush tool Tools: Brush

  12. Open the desired photograph Select the Eraser tool from the Tool menu Select Window, then Options The options menu will open on your screen Select Brushes, then the desired size Select the Erase tool from the Tool menu Erase the unwanted areas using the Erase tool Tools: Eraser

Open the desired photograph Select the Eyedropper tool from the Tool menu Select the desired color from the photograph with the Eyedropper tool Check the Foreground Color box from the Tool menu to see that the desired color has been selected Use the Brush tool, Paint Bucket tool, or other tool with the selected color Tools: Eyedropper

  14. Open the desired photograph Select the Paint Bucket tool from the Tool menu Select the desired color from the photograph with the Eyedropper tool or by double clicking on the Foreground Color box Place the end of the spilling paint in the Paint Bucket icon on the area where you want to change the color Click using the Paint Bucket tool Tools: Paint Bucket

  15. Open the desired photograph Select the Zoom tool from the Tool menu Click on the photograph The photograph will increase in viewing size Hold down on the Apple key (Mac) or the Alt key (PC) Click using the Zoom tool The photography will reduce in viewing size Tools: Zoom

  16. Many tool icons have other tools under them Click and hold on the tool icon and the names of all options for that box will appear Select the one you want to use For example: Click and hold the mouse on the Lasso tool box Three options appear, select the Magnetic Lasso tool This works like the Lasso tool except that it follows the outline of the object you are lassoing Makes it easier to get the object you want!
