What is DegreeWorks? DegreeWorks is similar to the Advisement Data Sheet but has more features. It is a web-based advisement tool which can be used as a road map towards students’ graduation. DegreeWorks matches students’ academic and course history against the degree requirements as defined in the College Bulletin. It can also provide specific guidance on recommended future course requirements. Advisors can use the tool to evaluate students' progress and alignment of their program of study to their academic and career goals. Who has access to DegreeWorks? How do I access DegreeWorks? • Go to www.cuny.edu • Click on Log-In on the left side of the page. • If you already have an account, enter Username and Password to log in. If you don’t have an account, click Register Now on the right side of the page and follow the online instructions to create one so that you can log in. • Once logged in to the Portal, you will be on MY PAGE. Click on Student Advisement/Degree from SSO Applications for Students. That will take you to your own personalized degree audit. • For CUNY Portal login problem– use the Portal Help link on www.cuny.edu right above the Login link. How does my DegreeWorks audit differ from my transcript? • DegreeWorks is a computerized program that displays courses required and completed in the major. • Your transcript is the official college record listing the courses taken each semester. • DegreeWorks allows you to print an advisement transcript used strictly for advisement purposes. • To obtain an official transcript you must request it from the Registrar’s Office in S-310. What does a DegreeWorks audit look like? Detailed Advice Block This section of the audit contains student’s demographic information, placement scores with the latest date the test was taken, two latest academic notes, impoundments, class codes, etc. An explanation of the class codes can be found in the help link of the audit. Continued Skills Assessment Block This area contains the status of the CUNY Reading, Writing and Mathematics test requirements. If the student has not completed a requirement, then the next remedial course in each area is listed here. If a course has been completed, then a check mark appears next to the course, and if a course is yet to be completed, then the audit shows all the courses a student may take to satisfy the requirement. Continued • Other Blocks • All the remedial courses and courses not required by the major go to the Courses Not Required for Degree block. • The courses with invalid grades (W, WU, F, INC, etc.) go to the Insufficient block. • If you are currently enrolled in any course, those courses will be listed in In-Progress block.
