Literacy – Essential Learnings • Reading for meaning and with fluency and expression. • Read with excellent comprehension / complete tasks using higher order thinking skills. • Read independently a wide range of texts on increasingly challenging topics and can justify own interpretation of ideas, information and events. • Develop effective skills for communicating and gaining information. • Develop confidence and fluency in a variety of situations ranging from prepared to impromptu speaking. • Develop the skills to compose written English fluently, appropriately and effectively for a wide range of personal and social purposes. • Recognise the generic features of set texts. • Develop proofreading and editing skills.

  12. Excursions & Incursions • Term 1 – Star Lab (incursion) 10 February • Term 2 – Eureka Gold Rush (excursion) 2 June

  13. Behaviour Management • Classroom protocols based around the 4Cs of courtesy, cooperation, commonsense and consideration. • Expectations are consistent. • Whole College approach (please see parent handbook for flow chart).

  15. Homework • Designed to develop good study, organisation and time management skills • Set Monday – due Friday • Reinforce maths concepts, encourage writing and thinking • Reading – nightly • Emphasis on neat presentation • 25 – 30 minutes per night (10 – 15 minutes of reading)
