Astronomers think that stars like our Sun exploded and created them. There is no evidence that black holes are real.
8th Grade Science White Board Review Monday, December 10, 2012 • As a star collapses and creates a black hole, the mass of the star stays the same, but the volume decreases. What effect does the change in volume have on the density of the black hole? • The density increases. • The density decreases. • The density stays the same. • There is no way to keep the mass the same and change the volume.
8th Grade Science White Board Review Monday, December 10, 2012 • 6. If a star has a low surface temperature and is considered very dim, where would you expect it to be located on the Herztsprung-Russell diagram? • In the lower, right corner. • In the upper, right corner. • In the upper, left corner. • In the main sequence.
8th Grade Science White Board Review Monday, December 10, 2012 • 7. In the HR diagram, massive stars tend to be either blue or white in color. What does this tell us about these stars? • These stars have low surface temperatures. • These stars are very dim stars. • These stars are not in the Main Sequence. • These stars have high surface temperatures.
