Declaration of Independence In Congress, July 4, 1776 The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Declaration of Independence 27 Reasons for Separation • Taxation without Representation is #17 • Every concept in the Declaration of Independence was first preached for 20 years in the pulpits of America prior to 1763. • “He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good. • He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them. • He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only. • He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.”

Laws of Great Britain Bible printing • Prevented the printing of any Bible in the English language • The first Bible printed in English in America was printed by the Congress of the United States • “A neat edition of the Holy Scriptures for the use of our schools” • Old Deluder Satan Act – law to establish public schools in America • “It being one chief project of that old deluder, Satan, to keep men from the knowledge of the Scriptures…and Learning may not be buried in the graves of our fore-fathers…” • For 320 years the Bible was the basis for public education in America until 1963.

  21. George Washington Farewell Address “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked: Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice ? And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.”
