2011 was our 9th year of youth soaring camp What has happened in 9 years We have seen 160 campers. (2003, our first year, eight campers) 25 first solos, 15 licensed pilots, 5 commercial, 3 CFIG’s 420 Volunteers (meal preparation, instructors, tow pilots, mentors) 600 T-shirts given away 2006 formed non-profit corporation 501(c) (3) Established scholarships to youth camp CCYSA have a strong partnership with CCSC / SSD Touch / involved >80% of CCSC membership CCYSA Youth Soaring camp
2011 Camp - five day camp 15 campers 7 new 8 returning campers 4 solos Our goal is to educate youth on the principles of flight through the sport of soaring. But they learn much more. CCYSA Youth Soaring camp CCYSA and SSD offered 2 scholarships totaling $1000 in 2011 funded from SSD youth endowment and Youth funds Criteria for scholarship consideration Nomination by a; CFIG, Crew Chief, CCSC, SSD, or CCYSA Board. Member of CCYSA Member of Soaring Society of America Junior High, High School and or undergraduate College or University with a GPA of 3.0 or higher Member CCSC, current account balance of no outstanding debt. A letter to CCYSA written by the scholarship candidate / nominee on your individual flying experience, community service and need.
