Overview of Bridge role - national • Connecting young people with great arts and culture • A New Direction is part of a national network of 10 bridge organisations, funded by Arts Council England (through lottery) to use our experience and expertise to connect children and young people, schools and communities with art and culture In London we have a unique model – Apples and Snakes, The Lyric Hammersmith, The Roundhouse and Sadler’s Wells are also funded to be ‘Bridges’ for the capital Tw. @a_new_direction anewdirection.org.uk
Overview of Bridge role - national • Bridge organisations facilitate networks and make sure there is an ongoing dialogue across the arts, culture and education • Bridge organisations help schools identify and access arts and cultural opportunities • Bridge organisations help other arts and cultural organisations, including museums and libraries, to bring the cultural experiences that they offer to more children and young people Tw. @a_new_direction anewdirection.org.uk

A New Direction’s vision for London • We want to make London the leading city in the world for young people’s cultural and creative development • Our Bridge work is one way of achieving this, we also run programmes supporting young people to get into employment and other relevant initiatives that help us work towards our goal Tw. @a_new_direction anewdirection.org.uk

Where we can make a difference New Models of workingCommission 6 partners to develop geographic specific work Cross Sector Action Learning Action Learning Associates Ltd has been commissioned to deliver a series of cross sector action learning sets from spring 2013. AND will recruit the individuals involved through an expression of interest process from range of sectors. Events Events, networking opportunities and an investment programme to encourage more delivery in Arts Award Gold with the cultural sector are planned for the spring term. Conclusion • Assets in London mean we should be able to do more and aim high • Bridge is an exceptional opportunity for young people and the sector • We can only achieve our vision through partnership and support of artists, cultural organisations and teachers...
