Introduction • Paul encouraged saints to follow him • He qualified his teaching • “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ” • 1 Corinthians 11:1 • “Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you” • Philippians 4:9 • He rebuked the Corinthians for following men! • 1 Corinthians 1:10-13 • Not to follow a man for bragging rights • Must follow godly men though • Hebrews 6:12

  4. In Obedience • From persecutor to preacher • Acts 9:1-8, 17-21 • He was called by Jesus • Acts 26:13-20 • Responded without conferring • Galatians 1:13-16; Matthew 10:37 • Going into Macedonia • Acts 16:7-10 • God’s grace was not in vain • 1 Corinthian’s 15:9-10

InPatience • This was a sign of an Apostle • 2 Corinthians 12:12 • This was known by Timothy • 2 Timothy 3:10-12 • He endured hardships • 2 Corinthians 11:23-28 • He kept his body in subjection • 1 Corinthians 9:27 • He pressed toward the mark • Philippians 3:13-14 • He fought, finished and kept the faith • 2 Timothy 4:6-8

As a Proclaimer • Preached Christ crucified • 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 • Preached the saving gospel • Romans 1:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 • Preached to the Jews and Gentiles • Acts 13:44-47; 1 Corinthians 9:19-22 • Preached boldly • Acts 9:29; 1 Thessalonians 2:1-2; Ephesians 6:18-20 • Preached with persuasion • 2 Corinthians 5:10-11; Acts 26:28

  7. As a Defender • He defended the gospel • Philippians 1:7, 15-17 • Confounded and disputed with the Jews • Acts 9:22; 17:17 • Disputed against the Grecians • Acts 9:29 • Disputed with teachers of error • Acts 15:1-2 • Withstood Peter to the face • Galatians 2:11-14

  8. “Be thou an example” • “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity” • 1 Timothy 4:12 • Paul practiced what he preached! • He was an example… • In Obedience • In Patience • As a Proclaimer • As a Defender Will We Follow Paul’s Example?
