  2. Definition: Zeros of a function – where the height of the graph is zero. Comparable to x-intercepts on the real number system. To find x-intercepts…replace “y” with zero. To find zeros…replace “y” with zero.

  3. Examples: Find the zeros of the following functions. Replace the y with zero. f(x) = 3x - 2 0 Where is the y? x = 2/3 Solve for x.

  4. Examples: Find the zeros of the following functions. Replace the y with zero. f(x) = x2 + 4x 0 Where is the y? x = 0 & x = -4 Solve for x.

  5. Examples: Find the zeros of the following functions. Replace the y with zero. f(x) =  3x - 4 0 Where is the y? x = 4/3 Solve for x.

  6. Examples: Find the zeros of the following functions. Replace the y with zero. f(x) = 3x – 2 x - 7 0 Where is the y? x = 2/3 Solve for x.

  7. Remember: The zeros to all the previous questions are the places where their graphs cross over the x-axis.
