  3. When it happened • Feb. 2006 • Went into labor after OB visit • Twin weighed 1lb. 3 oz. • Died shortly after birth – Claire • Labor was “halted” by use of Magnesium Sulfatefor two weeks • Could not bend – muscle atrophy • Steroid shots (March of Dimes)

  4. Jonathan • 1 lb. 10 oz. • Lost weight – 1lb. 6 oz. • Size of a coke bottle • Wedding ring on his wrist / thigh • Blood pressure cuff – size of adult thumb

  7. Problems we did not have to face • Brain Bleeds • Ducts in the top of the brain / spinal column • Organ failure • Major organ failure (Heart, Kidney, Lung, Intestine) • Eyesight • Developmental delays

Problems we faced • After he came home • Hernia surgery • Cyst in esophogus • Nasal surgery • ADD / ADHD – • He is just “wired” differently • Before he came home • Death of the child - twin • Development of lungs – steroid shots during stopped labor • Breathing • Organ (heart) development • PDA - patent ductusarteriosus • Infections - 3 • Ventilator • CPAP (face mask) • Jaundice – Blue light • Hernia • Jaundice – That is what the blue light is for • Gaining weight – measured in grams • Feeding • Passing the “Car Seat” test • 3 months in NICU
