Join us in exploring the key outcome of our series: providing encouragement to reflect on our own spiritual growth with Jesus. In this session, we delve into the question of measuring our spiritual growth and understanding the concept of selflessness as exemplified by Jesus and the widow's gift in Mark 12:41-44. Through passages from Philippians and the story of Jesus's ultimate sacrifice, we aim to inspire selflessness and service to others. Let's learn from Jesus's example and evaluate our own level of selflessness in our spiritual journey.

Jesus Gave Us An Example of Selflessness: Widow and Her Gift! Mark 12: 41 - 44
41 Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. 42 Then one poor widow came and threw in two [a]mites, which make a [b]quadrans. Mark 12: 41 - 42
43 So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; 44 for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.” Mark 12: 43 - 44
God sure Counts and Values Money Differently than We Do!
DRASTIC COMPARISON: —Abundance…Gave Leftovers —Poverty…Gave All She Has
Paul Shares this Statement about Selflessness:
1 Therefore if there is any [a]consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Philippians 2: 1 - 2
3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2: 3 - 4
Then Paul Shares this Example of Selflessness:
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it [a]robbery to be equal with God, 7 but [b]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2: 5 - 8
9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2: 9 - 11
Jesus Example of Selflessness: —He humbled Himself to become Human —As a Human He Served Obediently to be a Sacrifice
