Welcome to Q’s Girls Cooking Show HSP 305 – Summer 2010
Ingredients & Supplies • Flour • Chocolate Chips • Oil/Butter • Baking Soda • Sugar • Eggs • Vanilla Extract • Salt • Thermometer (Temperature) • Oven • Cookie Sheets • Spatula • Mixing Bowl • Apron • Timer • Measuring Cups
Step 1: Prep Work • APRON (BARRIER) • Interview with grant providers – We were unsure on the relevance of our interviews with the final presentation and the overall process for grant writing. It allowed us to connect with others who had endured the same process of acquiring a grant for a non-profit organization. • MIXING BOWL (CORE CLASS) The foundation of where we were able to collaborate with each other through out the quarter for our group projects. • MEASURING CUPS (DIFFERENT IDEAS) • We were fairly open to the process of group work and did not have any dramatic conflicts that required our instructor to intervene. We weren’t able to experience resolving any issues since we did not have any conflict within our group efforts.
Step 1: Prep Work • TEMPERATURE (MOOD/OUTLOOK) We were all excited about Grant Writing and Leadership in Small Groups. We were intrigued by our topics and genuinely interested in finding the support evidence to put together our presentations (example: finding grant providers) • OVEN (VALUE/RESPECT) Respecting to each other’s opinion – during facilitation we were all open to all group members opinions and ways we lead the group.
Step 2: Mixing Ingredients • FLOUR (WORK ETHICS) Everyone researched an article and/or support evidence for both presentations • BAKING SODA (COMMUNICATION) We were all considerate about include everyone in our group when we contacted each other via email, Facebook, and face to face meetings. • SUGAR (INDIVIDUAL WORK) We were all doing our own research, but we could have worked together to prevent us from having overlaps. • SALT (BITTER EXPERIENCE - RNA) We found it fairly difficult to proceed with grant writing when we did not have any essential information we needed to apply for grants to fund their program.
Step 2: Mixing Ingredients • OIL/BUTTER (FLEXIBLE) • We were all considerate about our schedules and collaborated on deciding the best time, date, and location for out of class group meetings • EGGS (GUIDELINES) • We did not utilize the guidelines we establish at the beginning of the quarter and we did not physically note if were abiding them or not. • VANILLA EXTRACT (PEER REVIEWS) We understood the purpose of analysis of our peers, but we did not utilize it for the overall process of group work. We found it slightly difficult to give peer evaluations since we are considering the other member’s grade in the class • CHOCOLATE CHIP (OPEN TO IDEAS) We were all equally giving our opinions in our brainstorm stage for both presentations
Step 3: Mixing & Baking Cookies • SPATULA (DR. TRULA NICOLAS) Keeping us in line and suggesting other ideas into our presentation. • COOKING TIME (TIME LINE) We over compensated the work needed to be done for the overall. We delayed on committing to a plan because we thought we had plenty of time left since we were the last group to present. • COOKIE SHEETS (ORGANIZATION) Jaemee’s organization skills kept us very organized with keeping notes and making sure we are all on the same page before our group left for the day.
Step 4: ENJOY!!! Have your “cookie” & eat it too!!!
