Lt. Gen. Mary Legere Lt. Gen. Mary Legere: Defining Intelligence
Lt. Gen. Mary Legere is a thirty-four year veteran of the United States Army. Over the course of three decades of service, she rose through the ranks to become the Deputy Chief of Staff for Army Intelligence, a position held from April 2012 to 2 March 2016.
Passionate about the Army and service to her community and country, Legere has a lifelong interest in intelligence. A 1982 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, she received a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Communications, was commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army into the Army’s Military Intelligence Corps.
During her career she s served in Germany, Bosnia, Iraq and Korea, serving in positions of increasing scope and responsibility. Lt. Gen. Mary Legere has always been interested in intelligence and national security.
As an intelligence professional, Legere was responsible for orchestrating the collection, processing, exploitation, analysis, production and dissemination of single-source and multi-discipline intelligence to enable decisions at every level of the military.
Lt. Gen. Mary Legere is the fourth female 3-star General in the Army’s 240-year history, and is among the top seventeen senior officials in the U.S. Intelligence community. She was the longest serving Army G2 in the Army’s history.
