  2. RESEARCH LOCATIONS • FOREST AREA IS SELECTED UNDER SOME CRITERIA : • THE AREA HAS HIGH ECONOMIC VALUE OF TEAK • PART OF THE FOREST AREA HAS BEEN OCCURRED ILLEGAL LOGGING • THE FOREST DEGRADED NEEDS TO BE REHABILITED, INVOLVE LOCAL PEOPLE • POTENTIAL TEAK FOREST

  3. LOCATION SELECTED • MULTISTAGE SAMPLING IS USED TO DETERMINE RESEARCH LOCATION • SELECT PERHUTANI UNIT I , CENTRAL JAVA. SELECT PRODUCTIVE TEAK AREA WITHIN FOREST DISTRICT; AND SELECT TWO FOREST DISTRICTS (PEMALANG AND RANDU BLATUNG) • KPH PEMALANG : LMDH GLANDANG AND SURAJAYO • KPH RANDU BLATUNG : LMDH JEGONG AND TANGGEL

Site Location for Field Study KPH Pemalang KPH Randublatung • Each KPH we will select 1 Forest Management Unit (Bagian Hutan) • and within or around Forest Management Unit area (FMU) • 2 Villages will be selected following the criteria as below • 1 Village that have already followed PHBM Scheme • 1 Empty Village (no Forest User Grup / Institution for PHBM)

DATA COLLECTION • SOCIO-ECONOMIC AND CULTURE (Settlement pattern, Local Economic Activities, Social Institution, Religion, people perception on forest, demography, customery laws, local politics, forest biophysics) • STAKEHOLDERS INVOLVED (Village Level) : farmer, local actors, local traders, perhutani, local government, local NGOs, other related institutions. • BASIC NEEDS FOR PEOPLE EMPOWERMENT TOWARD LOCAL WORKSHOP IN THE VILLAGE

  8. Institutional Arrangements • LMDH (Forest Village Community Organization) • Perhutani • Local Government (District and Province Level) • Forest User Group • Communication Forum on PHBM (village, sub district, district, province)

  10. DATA ANALYSIS • BASELINE DATA ANALYSIS :PROFILE AND SOCIAL STANDARD, • COMMUNITY PLANNING MODEL : COMMUNITY AND STAKEHOLDERS • STAKEHOLDERS ANALYSIS : PACT MODEL (at village level) • THE ANALYSIS OF LOCAL TRAINING’S NEEDS WITH RESPECT TO THE PHBM
